Comics: Hockey/Opera together forever!

the fruits of my summer class! v productive: i learned what a t-square is for, which white ink is most opaque, and what an ‘ames lettering guide’ is. also managed to shoehorn two of my favorite things– hockey and opera– into a 16 page comic book!

Just wanted to say how much I (and a bunch of friends) loved this comic. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and as a hockey fan I particularly loved it! Wonderful storytelling & art. You have no idea how much I wish it was longer :)

btw, found it via twitter – someone sent a link to the You Can Play project.

thanks so much! i’m glad you enjoyed it. i adore hockey, but only got into it pretty recently, and so felt v self-conscious the whole time about getting obvious details wrong and ruining it for more knowledgable fans. SO MUCH photoreference of goalie pads and locker rooms and arenas and such.

i’d like it to be longer too, to stretch the plot a bit and put more in of the opera side of things, but i was hard pressed as it was to get it done during the allotted timeframe of the class (literally finished with 15min to spare before the final critique). maybe next time! :-) thanks fo rreading!
